Guideposts is seeking submissions for an upcoming special interest publication called The Joy of Prayer. This will be a keepsake edition, printed in a large-size full-color format, like Guideposts' beloved The Joys of Christmas.
Concept
If prayer isn't already part of your daily routine, we know you'd like it to be. Let Guideposts help put you on a path to a more robust connection with God, not only during the time you set aside for formal worship, but also while you go about the business of everyday life. God is always listening and communicating in ways you may find surprising. How to feel his constant comfort? Find it in the pages of this special edition, full of visual expressions of God's presence in the world around us, as well as stories from people who have experienced the blessings that come when prayer comes first.
Requirements
Each story should be a true, first-person account of between 500 and 1,800 words. Stories can be your own or written for someone else. Stories must be original and never-before published. Please see below for details.

• Stories of answered prayers while facing a challenge that feels hopeless
• Accepting God's answer to prayer when it wasn't what you asked for

What to submit
Submit a short (3- to 5-paragraph) summary of your story. The summary should include an outline of the narrative arc of the story, including information about the answered prayer and how the narrator was changed by it. We'll review your summary and let you know if we want you to go ahead and write the full story.
Payment on acceptance of story
Rates will vary depending on the length of the published story. We will pay $200 per page that is printed in The Joy of Prayer.
