Imago Dei is a collection of the best poems published in the journal Christianity and Literature over the past 60 years. They ask big questions: Why do we exist? Who is God? Where do we find God? What does the Incarnation mean? When does God speak to us, and why is God silent? The poets have in common an awareness of the Imago Dei embedded in human nature. I love the following biog from the Pure Francis website. It's a spoof, right? But the Pure Francis online journal evidently isn't. It's open to submissions of poetry, short prose, and visual art. Pure Francis, the man, was born under mysterious conditions on a tramp steamer off the coast of Finland.  He stands 2 feet, 6 inches tall and counts fencing, origami, and collecting REO Speedwagon bootlegs amongst his vast array of hobbies.  He founded the print version of Pure Francis in May, 1908.  It folded in June, 1908.

Oprah book club restarting

According to the New York Times. Oprah is restarting her book club version 2.0 in an interactive format. E-book versions of her selected books will include Oprah's margin notes. Readers can share discussions with other readers, Oprah and the author by using Facebook and Twitter. Hard copy books will still get the famous sticker on the front cover. More info at:

sampling new books on Facebook: Hachette Book Group

Hachette Book Group has been talking about harnessing Facebook as a way for readers to sample and share books. Wednesday the company launched their ChapterShare Facebook app. The app lets authors themselves as well as HBG staff post chapters onto Facebook pages from forthcoming books. Facebook friends can read and share the samples, as well as pre-order titles. HBG ceo Ken Michaels notes in the announcement, "…apps like ChapterShare allow us to connect directly with consumers. Publishers need to become application developers in order to connect writers and readers more closely…"
