New magazine for writers
The Writer's Monthly Review is a monthly magazine (print and online)
where creative writers of every genre can come together and learn,
hone their crafts and interact with others who share their passion of
writing. Each issue includes updated information on any and every
aspect of writing, market listings and updates on contests and
workshops all over the world. If interested, you should be able to
find more information by Googling on key words.
Poetry anthology seeks submissions
Submissions are now open for the first Fire Hazard anthology,
"Underground".
To mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of the world's first
underground railway in London in 1863, Fire Hazard is compiling a
print anthology of poetry dealing with experiences of underground
railways and their impact (for better and worse) on the communities
they serve around the world. If interested, you should be able to find
more information by Googling on key words.

Mennonite power and politics
MENNONITE POWER & POLITCS
We are looking for new, unpublished work about or involving power and
politics in s ome way from writers and artists who self-define as
Mennonites, whether practicing, declined or resistant; we also accept
writing and visual art by non-Mennonites about Mennonites. We'd like
to see a cultural conversation on the topic from many different
perspectives and with diverse approaches and styles. This is the third
and final themed Rhubarb issue featuring taboo subjects rarely talked
about in polite Mennonite society, the first two being Money & Sex.
Does a Mennonite heritage affect elected politicians making laws for
Caesar? How do women of Mennonite heritage exercise power in the 21st
century after generations of Kinder, Kueche, Kirche? (Children,
kitchen, church)? Is the Mennonite church ready, or is it irrelevant?
Are we still turning the other cheek? Are violence and anger, its
repression and excesses, endemic to Mennonite patriarchy? Are
Mennonites passive aggressive? How about you?
