want to talk to your computer?

Want to talk to your computer and save wear & tear on your hands, back, & neck? I dictate to mine using the speech recognition feature built into Windows 7. It works fine and only requires about 30 minutes of training. The following website tells how to use it in Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, & Windows 10: . There’s also a note on how to use it in Windows XP.

You need a microphone. My headset/microphone is a Sennheiser that I ordered online—fairly pricey. I understand you can also buy an acceptable headset/microphone for about $60 from a place like Staples. Ask for something that can be used with speech recognition software. Logitech is one brand.

Since I am able to use my hands, I use a combination of speech recognition & keyboarding. Some people use only speech recognition.
